kilimanjaro, days 6 and 7

I summited Kilimanjaro at 7:30 am the morning of July 3rd, 2008, day 6 on the mountain. I reached Uhuru peak, 5895 meters above sea level, the highest point in Africa. After summiting, the rest of the day was spent hiking part way down the mountain, 15 hours of hiking that day. Then, the day afterward we finished with another 6 hours. When we reached the park gate at the base of the mountain, we all had a beer to celebrate. It was good.

I suppose it'd be too bourgeois to complain that you've had us wondering if you died of altitude sickness these last five days.

Congrats and more pictures please!

And it can not go without saying: we're very proud of you (and a little envious)!

Congrats Mike! Very impressive. You'll have to share some of the stories when you get back in the states. Can't wait to hear them. EB

Well, Sky Divin Einstein.... when I found out you were going to do this, I was amazed (not surprised), when I saw the pics, I was amazed (and surprised), and when I heard your voice after you had reached the summit I was totally euphoric about how amazing it must have been for you. You are amazing! And ur my sur-prize! I love you!
